TCH KPIs [Key Performance Indicator] ::

TCH Transport also has Key Performance Indicators that are quantifiable measurements, agreed to beforehand, that reflect the critical success factors of an organization and also reflect the organization goals. In TCH, Key Performance Indicators are being used to indicate the percentage of its Safety Index, Services Index and Performance Index which these three major factors must be quantifiable and help the organization define and measure progress toward organization goals.
 

Trip Data Entry ::

A complete database has been designed in which the information from all trips is entered. All dates, times and speedometer readings are keyed into the system and statistical data is available for all parts of the trip. This is the job of the Trip Data Recorder. He also checks the Trip Reports for any further errors, particularly those that show up after the data has been entered. The data is used to identify any problems and to analyze trip performance. The data is also summarized for the benefit of the company, reports being sent monthly to their dispatch department.

We also maintain a complete listing of all the customers to which we are sent. Information such as the distance in kilometers from our depot to the customer site are kept to help calculate the correct driving and rest time for each trip and to determine the appropriate loading time at the terminal. A Route Card is used to provide the drivers with details of rest points, rest times and the distance between each stop on a trip. This ensures that our drivers will comply with all our trip instructions and satisfy our safety and health rules for working time.

A separate record is also maintained in the database that identifies when each truck is due for its next maintenance program. This helps us plan ahead for all maintenance stops and to decide which truck should be allocated to each trip. We have 4 separate programs for normal maintenance plus 3 additional programs of preventive maintenance that we carry out on all our trucks.

The database also tracks the detail needed for driver wages. Our drivers have a fixed pay amount each month but also get allowances for kilometers, for the numbers of loads and for waiting time at the customer site. This is all tracked in the database and the monthly driver pays are calculated from this trip data.
